FlashcatUSB (Version2.1)

Ok, well, never mind all the confusion. I was able to read my modem..i was having the hardest time trying to read it. its an sb5101. I bought it because the one I have doesn't work with the certificates I have. So, to avoid being without internet too much, I decided to buy it from a guy from craigslist. it works but its locked. I cannot see or adjust settings or things like that. Why? because I want to know what he did and maybe I can pass it on to my old modem and make it work. my old modem has haxoware 1.1 rev39. I am with TWC texas.

hope I make my self clear this time..

thank you.

I see.
I don't have hack experience with Motorola Surfboards, I only used it several years ago. I followed the theme from the FlashCat board point of view.
I need to do some tests myself, too, in order to know exactly what FlashCat can and cannot do. I have a DSL Speedtouch 546v5 (Broadcom proc) and I still have to do destructive tests, i.e. save the full binary contents, erase the flash chip, verify that the modem is dead, flash the binary back to the modem, verify that the modem works.
AFAIK, the Surfboard 5101 and relatives are widely discussed. I haven't got details because I didn't know what to relate to what, but I was left with the conclusion that the BlackCat (now FlashCat) was designed in order to hack the SB modems, the authors were a little bit visited by the Powers that Be and ended up in cold shady places, and the whole idea spred and developed into a more general use tool, JTAG oriented.
