Forceware 1.4b1-mod2 on SB6141

Hi, all,

I got stuck on flashing Forceware on SB6141.
My question is, is it possible to flash Forceware onto SB6141 using the blackcat usb in SPI mode?
I know there isn't a blackcat script for the SB6141.

I believe the 6141 layout is similar to the sb6120 i modified the script to be for 6141.
This script is not tested as i do not have a 6141 to test it on.
As for loading forceware you should be able to load it with FCUSB if it is available for this sb6141 device.

Without, D3m0n, I would be stuck stupid.
I would like to thank D3m0n for the time spent and work on this script.
I had use the script to successfully flashed the diagnostic firmware on the modem last night.
I was also really impressed that someone in this forum replied to my post and so quick.

Hi junkmailbin1,
Would it be possible to share the procedure of flashing SB6141 with me? I have the BCUSB and 8-pin test clip for the SB6120 already. Did you use the clip to flash the modem? Thanks a lot!

Thanks hunkmailbin1,
I've got the 16-pin clip ready. I remember connecting the needle-shaped line with the BCUSB on the back board of the SB6120 when flashing with forceware. My question is, do I need to use the needle-shaped line on the SB6141 during flashing process?

Another question is, what's the difference between BCUSB and FCUSB? I have one BCUSB on hand. If I would like to flash the SB6141, should I purchase the FCUSB?

The FCUSB does not work like the USBJTAG so the pre-built 16 pin soic clip you describe may not work, because the pin count and pinout is all wrong.

If you can remove the cable from the clip you may be able to use the clip and the jumper wires, just follow the schematic in the manual (if you only have 6 jumper wires you can skip connecting HOLD & WP)

Note: the USBJTAG you need to power on the modem while reading, the FCUSB you do NOT power it on. The chip uses the power from the FCUSB's VCC pin to power the chip.

pin 1 fcusb to pin 10
pin 2 fcusb to pin 1
pin 4 fcusb to pin 8
pin 6 fcusb to pin 15
pin 8 fcusb to pin 16
pin 10 fcusb to pin 7

Well noted with thanks, xuhue.

It looks so sophisticated. I think it's better to purchase the FCUSB before flash the SB6141 rather than using the current BCUSB.

FCUSB and BCUSB are the same thing , there are just different versions .
What version of BCUSB do you have as it should still work for this specific chip?

Well, the version of BCUSB is PCB 1.8 (firmware: SPI 1.09) shown on the board. I ever used it to flash the SB6120 with 16-way SOIC test clip in SPI mode. Does my BCUSB apply to flash the SB6141?

Thanks, D3m0n

If it worked on a sb6120 spi chip then it will work on the 6141

it is work for both SB6120 and SB6141
pin 1 fcusb to pin 10
pin 2 fcusb to pin 1
pin 4 fcusb to pin 8
pin 6 fcusb to pin 15
pin 8 fcusb to pin 16
pin 10 fcusb to pin 7

Thanks, D3m0n and xuhue
Does the SB6141 have the same R362 ISP point as the SB6120 on the back board? Which script (*.bcs) is suitable for the software of BlackcatUSB?

B/FCUSB does NOT utilize the ISP point, you need to power the SPI chip using the FCUPB VCC pin or an external power source (like a USB to Serial adapter)

OK I guess it does work with ISP point... Anyway if I were you I would still detach the IDC cable and utilize the Jumper Wires to connect using the pinout in the manual.
