Yes your pin connections are correct, just mess around with the clip and/or buy a Pomona 5252 on ebay for cheap or buy the official Premium Pomona clip from Embedded Computers

Well noted. I'll look for the Pomona clip.

BTW, do you mean there might be some problems on my current clip?

Thanks,
Ricktendo

I also have a 3M, have only tried it a couple times and have never gotten it to work (I am also afraid of it crushing my SPI legs/chip.) I always prefer Pomona and or SOIC Grabbers.

Hi Ricktendo,
It's amazing.... I try to connect my FCUSB with previous modified SB6120 via 3M clip. It can detect the SPI chip successfully. This implies me the current clip is well-functioned. (See the photos)

However, I don't know why the SPI chip on the SB6141 can't be detected. The current unmodified SB6141 is working well. Is it possible that the chip is crushing?

No the SPI is not bricked, I have seen this many times where one SB6141 will easily detect and the other it takes allot of playing with the clip to get it to detect... It could be due to the shape of the legs of the flash chip.

Thanks, Ricktendo
I have tried many times to read the chip. Finally, it can detect the chip well. When I turn to SPI NOR FLASH tag, it can read; however, when I load the script and try to read the U-Boot for backup, the blue LED on the FCUSB doesn't flash and the bottom status line of the software doesn't show action %.

Do you know what the problem is?

Many thanks!
It can read every item successfully. Now, the next step to do is to write the forceware only on UBFI1 and UBFI2. Is that correct?

Hi Ricktendo,
Thanks for your help again.
I have successfully flashed my SB6141 w/ forceware. The current status is that the blue "receive" and the green "online" are flashing continually and the "send" isn't. Then, this process will cease and go on without stop. It seems the modem can't acquire the frequency correctly. Hence, I manually set the tuner to "MXL261 x2", "MT1570", "2 number of tuners", "8 Max DS Channels", and "4 Max US Channels".

Can you help me confirm and see if these settings are all correct or not? Thanks again for your help~

Probably because you don't have PCB v2.2, earlier versions VCC pin will not work as well so you may need to use an external 3.3v source.

Weird. This is a brand new FCUSB printed PCB 2.2 on the bottom. I followed the PIN:

1 fcusb to 10
6 fcusb to 7
7 fcusb to 16
8 fcusb to 15
9 fcusb to 8
10 fcusb to 2

The moment it clips onto the flash chip. It shuts off. If i leave the USB out and clip first and then plug in, it doesn't turn on anymore unless I unclip.

From what I can recall yes, that's the same layout I hooked up the jumpers on my Pomona 5252. It's my first time doing it. Am I supposed to be leaving the software to use SPI NOR? Are there any other settings that I need to tweak? considering that it turns off once the clip is on, everything is grayed out anyway.

Also, is this the correct orientation? Upper left pin is GND?

Correct that is GND, the orientation of your diagram should mimic the layout of the one i posted.

Oh my.. I finally figured out what the issue was. I had my flashcat usb connected to a USB 3.0 port and it wasn't working. Tried a USB 2.0 port and it connected. Thanks guys.

Remove .txt extension
hello-
i removed text ext. and file shows as fcs type file but for some reason it wont load-or even show up in scripts folder (i can view in folder no problem but cannot see file while searching in fcusb) all other scripts load w no problem.-thanks for your help
