trying to read the chip on arris wmb760a but the blackcat does not recognize the chip.
It is a spansion FL064AIF. I have connected just like my sb6120 but I do not know where the spi point is on the arris modem. I have done a lot of searching and cannot find anything on the inet about this arris modem other than it is like an sb6120.

btw the modem is wbm760a not wmb....

If u cannot find the ISP pin on the board then you will have to power the chip on the VCC pin .

Well I powered by vcc and is still says "detected spi device but it is currently not supported".

That chip is supported , make sure you have the latest build and double check your wiring , make sure your wires from fcusb to the chip are not too long either.

I have checked everything even tried different versions of the software....some software say not connected some say not supported.

Can you post some pics of your connection from fcusb to the device so i can see how u have it connected , close up if possible so i can trace your wiring.

I am beginning to think it is my programmer.....I ordered a new one just now...2.1 version. my old one is 1.8 version.

Try putting fcusb on the 5v setting , see if that alters anything

I finally got it ....probably my soldering skills......it is working now but I still got new 2.1 version on the way..... :)

Cool , glad it is sorted now , new 2.1 has a few more features getting added as the old 1.x versions will not be getting any more firmware updates to them

ok got the new 2.1 programmer....now here is my next problem....I have 2 arris wbm760a modems..... I read the chip on one and write to the other....but the other modem boots up as arris cm820a.....
Is it not writing to all areas of the chip? Both modems are same board hardware.... except that modem 1 has winbond w25q64bv and the modem 2 has spansion 25fl064a

also I have noticed that when using parallel spi programmers they have a chip erase feature....does the flashcat erase the chip first?

There is a tab called "flash" on top of the software this will allow you to completely erase the chip , although the software does/should erase it bit by bit whilst writing the new firmware
