is it possible using the blackcatusb software to drop the bootloader part from a working modem?

just need it to try and unbrick another identical on as its stuck on one permanent light even after i have wrote a working 2mb dump onto it

You can add a section in the script to read /write the bootloader ( if you know how) . Or save the first 256KB ( 0x262143) of the full dump in CFI tab

just wanted to say thanks again D3mOn manage to debrick 3 sb4100 i had lying about lol just on left but getting connection error with 3 solid lights, ill get there
