SB5101 N

Hi,
can anyone show me or tell me where to find the instruction to load to SB 5101 N.
I have found the SB 5101 U not not the N.

I have the blackcat usb that I purchased and all the software. for some reason I cannot figure it out how to program this modem.
any help is appreciate it
thanks in advance

I believe that the 5101N is similar to the 5101U , so connecting it should be the same procedure.

Thanks for the reply.
I was thinking that it might be. I have followed the instruction fr the U, but for some reason the blackcatusb does not see the the modem.
is there a site that you know that works for the U that I can follow.
I have looked at:

and

I have done what they say. i'm sure the wiring is right on mine. I connect the external 5 V also like it mentions.
am I missing something?
is there a step by step instruction, more detailed. Please.
Thank you so much again.

Have a look at this thread
http://blackcatusb.net/threads/flash-sb5101u-in-spi-mode.27/
As for other sites having any info i am unsure off that apart from the ones you have linked.
The layout of USBJTAG NT is slightly different to BCUSB so your connections from the BCUSB to the device will be different , if you follow the thread it may help you get a detection.

I did what it says, but cannot recognize the modem.
the bc stays in dfu mode and cannot go pass that.
thigs i've done:
flash the usb with the 1.09 and 1.07 for the psi both, but none can recognize it.

I have connected the modem per pictures posted. all wiring is right. I connct the external 5v also.

am i missing something? i have tried it on 2 different computers and none working.

please help

by the way i'm using the CD that came with bc, which is built 312, also i tried the 326 also.

on the instruction it says to load the U script. it's in bc extention, what do you open it with? i changed it to hex, thinking might be able to load, but no!

You need to use the latest SPI firmware which is 3.05 , only once the BCUSB has detected the flash chip will you be able to then load the specific script .
What version of BCUSB do you have ? have you also set the dip switches on the BCUSB in the correct position

I dont know how you can tell the version of the BCUSB, there is nothing written on the board. how would I know?
I did try the spi 3.05 also and yet no... cannot detect

Is there nothing written next to the dip switches ??
When you load the hex files does it load ok , or does your programmer still stick on DFU ?

on the board it says pcb 1.8 I just saw.
when I load the hex file it load ok i guess, but after it restart it says the board is in dfu mode still

Are your dip switches in the correct position (as per the manual)?

i guess so. they are both to the R side toward where wires are attached to the modem and away from the usb cable to pc

You say it is always in DFU mode , does it remain in DFU mode if you load any of the firmwares (EJTAG, NAND or SPI) ?

yes. is that normal? i tried all the hex files one by one before and now has the spi 3.05 and stays in dfu mode.
now one question, after I load the hex file and press the reset botton, do i have to change the switch settings?

Once you load the hex file and program it , click start application , if you press the reset button again it will enter DFU mode .

Do this:
1.Load the firmware 3.05.SPI
2.Program it
3. Start application
4. you should then have a status screen like so

18-08-2012 19-13-10.png

5. You can then push the dip switches back to the left side.

ok did that.
after starting the application, it says it's still in dfu mode: any other thoughts?

If it remains in DFU mode all the time then there is possibly a fault with it,
you can contact your reseller and ask for a replacement (if he is willing to do that for you)
or the other option is to try and re-flow the chip again with a heat gun , in case there is a bad connection

other things. only one light on the bcusb is on, the red one. the other one does not come on, i dont think it matters though.
when I program the bcusb with the spi it says new AVR flash is programed and says start application to begin, when i do it says it's dfu mode still

The red LED is just to show there is power going to the PCB , the other LED (blue) will only come on once the software is started in it's specific mode.
There is definitely an issue with your board.
